Can anybody recommend a Thai language school in Bangkok?
Main Post:
I both want to learn thai and my visa is expiring in a month so need to get on a ED-visa.

I studied at NISA. Not the cheapest option but they're a reputable school and are serious about education. From time to time there have been crackdowns on so-called visa mills so I'd be a bit wary about using a small school right now, but that's just me.
International School Salaries
Main Post:
Good morning. As it says in the title, I am looking for information on the salaries of teachers in international schools in Bangkok. If you reply to the thread please don't offer an estimation - I think if anyone else is also interested in this then the actual salary from a named school (straight from the horse's mouth) would be most helpful.
There's no reason people can't talk openly about their salaries.
Looking forward to the downvotes, and any helpful answers! Thank you.

Doesn't post his own salary. Uses a 1 year old account with 6 karma points (mostly from this post).
If you want people to share personal information, why don't you start first?
Thai Language school that offers online courses and ED visa (Bangkok)
Main Post:
I want to take course in a language school and get a ED visa, but I would like to have online course and not physically attend the classes all the time. Is there any schools that offers this? I am living in Bangkok.
Also I am currently under the covid extension and the end of the extension is coming near. Would 30 days be enough for the whole process? It would be a good if the school can somehow fasten the process.
Thank you.

Chula has an online course. I've not taken it but it seems to have a good reputation.
English Speaking Car Driving School in Bangkok
Main Post:
I’m about to be 18 in about a month and I was wondering if there was a car driving school that has lessons in English. I am Half Thai but my Thai is terrible :/. And maybe if theres the possibility to do the test at the school, that would be helpful too :)!
Just some info:
- I can drive a manual car, just not too good on parking and things like that so need practice.
- 18 in about a month and a half so would love to get my license ASAP after I turn 18.
Any tips or direction is appreciated, Thank You!

I don't speak any Thai. I did my driving lessons and test at LaSalle Driving School with Mr David three years ago. You can do both theory and practical test on site with them. It cost 8000 thb for 10 hours if lessons and everything else. That might be expensive but I don't care, I was so happy with my experience I used the same school to get my motorbike licence.
On the DLT website there is a list of driving schools which can do the test on site. It's in Thai but with some Google translate skills you can find one close to you then look them up on Facebook or give them a call.
I would recommend using a driving school if you don't know how to drive already, or want 1-to-1 training and test prep.
Thais that graduated from a proper international high school, do you feel satisfied enough with your education to pay for it again?
Main Post:
I'm looking around at international schools and sweet baby Jesus these schools are dummy expensive. $15-30k year per child. I think that was the cost of the most expensive private school in my state in the US, maybe even more.
I'm wondering, what careers could you get in Thailand that pay enough to outweigh the cost of the education?
Let's say the school is $15k year so 15 x 12years = $180,000.
I'm curious about the people that graduated from international schools, would you pay that price again for your own kids? Or is public school good enough?
Top Comment:
I graduated from BPS back in 2012, and I'm definitely willing to pay the same for when my kids go to school. Facilities are really good (better than the universities I went to), very hardline stance against bullying (speaking from personal experience), and when I visited last time the facilities got even better. Teachers were amazing too, though there's no guarantee they'll be the same by the time I have kids.
Public school is not good enough too, I went to one before I went to BPS and unless high school changes drastically compared to middle school, definitely not good enough. I think as well, you want your kids' experience growing up to be good, and a public school is kind of hit or miss in that regard (from friends' anecdotes).
In regards to jobs, most of what would pay enough would be in entrepreneurship. Realistically though, most of my friends have gone abroad and had great salaries there. To be honest though, I don't think that it matters too much. For me, I'd be paying for my kid to have a good experience growing up and a good education. What the kid chooses to do with said knowledge and experience is their business.
I work at an international school in Bangkok AMA
Main Post:
Sawasdee krub, I have been living in Thailand for over 20 years and like (so many) others who arrive in the Kingdom, I started out teaching English, eventually marrying a local and basically going native. Eventually I ended up working at one of those expensive private schools in Bangkok, but have also worked with a smaller bilingual school as well as a local provincial school.
There’s a lot of confusion and misconceptions about schools here, such as regarding admissions and curriculums, so I am happy to offer my perspective from the inside as an employee and parent.
I will not say which schools I have worked at, (in respect of Rule #7) but other than go ahead and AMA.

I’m currently a college student and I’m pursuing education as a career. I plan on working in Thailand when I earn my degree. My family is mostly Southern European and Hispanic, so I have darker features. Is it possible for someone with a darker complexion to become an English teacher there?
